I am the vine

At the end of this 5th Sunday of Easter, some words of Jesus to his disciples, from today's gospel reading:


"I am the vine,
you are the branches. 
Those who abide in me 
and I in them bear much fruit, 
because apart from me 
you can do nothing." John 15: 5



"Abide in me." That's Jesus' command. 

"Bear much fruit". That's Jesus' promise.

    I hope it has helped you Anonymous. I'm encouraged by the idea that Jesus invites us to abide in him. The fruit-bearing that results is his responsibility not ours.
