Friday round-up on last day of summer

What's caught your eye this week? Here's a round-up of 5 blog posts that have particularly caught my attention.  Religious beliefs should be respected when rights are not impeded is an article by Joshua Rozenburg, first  published in the Law Society Gazette and posted yesterday at the National Secular Society website. It's about the cases by 4 Christian claimants to be heard at the European Court of Human Rights next week. Rozenburg's article focuses on that of Lilian Ladele who he believes has a good chance of succeeding.  If you don't know what all that is about then God and Politics in the UK gives a helpful summary of all 4 cases in his post today . Simon Jenkins looks back 15 years to the death of Princess Diana and publishes his previously private record in a post called Come and Look: mourning Diana. If all that's a bit heavy and you want something lighter (but beware the subversive message) you might enjoy Heaven (Tax) Haven on the Beake...

Friday Five

Here's a Friday round-up of 5 blog posts that have caught my attention this week. Tabloid Watch continues to blog about bad journalism. Today it picks up the nonsensical claim made in the Daily Express's front-page headline that there is an EU plot to scrap Britain and 'wipe us off the map'. Gillan on God and Politics in the UK is always worth a read. He comments on Barack Obama's call to prayer  yesterday for the US National Day of Prayer. He hopes David Cameron is listening.  Dave Bookless on The Planetwise Blog asks 'In what sense is creation good?'  He raises interesting questions about suffering, death and disorder. This led me to respond with ' Bird-watcher sets cat among pigeons'.  On his satirical blog 'Of Course I could be wrong' MadPriest reacts to the appointment of a new Bishop of Chichester with Church of England Betrays Women (Again) . Mmm... That's it for today. Enjoy your weekend! Image Credit: Arlo Bates o...

Saturday Six: A Roundup

Here's my round-up of six blog posts I've enjoyed or found interesting this last week. A new blog which looks promising is the The Planetwise Blog , the official blog of A Rocha International. This has 3 authors. The first post, by Dave Bookless, is Whose World Is It Anyway? This is about a Biblical perspective on the ownership of the world as God's gift on loan to humanity. I was interested in a post by Gillan Scott about Nadine Dorries' Sex Education Bill which had its 2nd reading in the House of Commons yesterday.  His is a newish blog 'God and Politics in the UK'.   Significant Truths blog has a short post  Don't Take Care, Take Risks  with interesting links. The post is in admiration of Canon Andrew White and the work he is doing in Baghdad. Leading Spiritually - What I learned from the Business World is the last in Christine Cline's series on 'Leading Spiritually'. I've been following this series and found helpful thoughts in all ...
