O Emmanuel: O God with us

It's the day before Christmas Eve. As Advent ends the 7th and last of the 'O Antiphons' to be sung at Evening Prayer is 'O Emmanuel'. Emmanuel means 'God with us' or 'with us is God'.

The prophet Isaiah wrote:
"Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Look, the young woman is with child and shall bear a son, and shall call him Immanuel."
Isaiah 7: 14 NRSV

The English words are:
O Emmanuel, our king and our lawgiver,
the hope of the nations and their Saviour:
Come and save us, O Lord our God.
